A nice little spot on Falls Rd, similar to their Towson location. The menu is a nice mix of classic and special sushi rolls with meals that might be enjoyed by non-sushi fans (such as my husband). My friend and I were able to split a platter of sushi while my husband had a noodle dish.

Ordered takeout and was told it would be 20 minutes. I showed up 5 minutes early and 10 mins later was told they had no seaweed salad. I opted for vegetable tempura instead. Another 10 minutes and I'm told they DID have seaweed salad. I sat waiting for 20 minutes while my sushi sat underneath warm soup. The food was mediocre AT BEST. If you want better sushi for a comparable, maybe lower price, drive a few miles more and visit Sushi Yama.

Horrible service! Just stopped in for dinner and was completely ignored. I understand that the restaurant is busy and supposedly was understaffed, but we were greeted when we first walked by the owner and then he disappeared for 10 min for him to later point us to our table. No server was to be found and so my husband had to go back to the host stand to grab our own menus. Waited another 10 min for a server to come by to only be rudely asked if we were ready to order, we replied no. She was about to walk away so I asked if she was going to take our drink orders, only more attitude was given. The man at the table behind us had waited for 15 minutes before he had to chase someone down to take his order. We did not eat here and just left after this encounter

Their sushi is good, not gonna lie. However, the lunch hostess/waitress in unwelcoming to the point that even though I can walk to this location, I'd prefer to drive to the one in Towson. I have not been there at lunch without them screwing up my order in some way, and the staff being unapologetic about it. And forget about drink refills!

This place is pretty good. I get their takeout when I am craving sushi late at night, and while the rolls aren't huge they are quite good when you have a craving.

I am always in the mood for this place! The Age Tofu is a favorite of mine with some Ponzu sauce. Any and all of their rolls are made fresh and taste good enough every time I've visited.

I always come for lunch and I'm never disappointed. The lunch menu is a great value and the portions are large. Tucked away in the back of the strip mall, you would never know this place is here.

Good sushi, nice decor, good service. I am greeted with a nice wave from the sushi chefs when I come in... And I don't dine there that often. It is not the best I have had (kaz sushi in DC) but it is the best I have had in b'more. Consistently good.

i'd been wanting some good sushi and this hit the spot! we went with a group of 7 people and we started by ordering 10 rolls but we were still hungry so we ordered 3 more here are the rolls i'd recommend: hana roll - if you like good clean/fresh sashimi inside crunchy tuna beauty alaska eel roll - i forgot the exact name of this one, but they had a nice large piece of eel on top not as good but still tasty good ones: cooked dynamite - fancy/hot but a little oily rock and roll i woudl porbalby give this place a 3.5 rather than a 4 because the service was slacking a little. They messed up one of our orders and gave us a wrong roll, but we still had to pay for it (because we ate most of it before noticing hahaha) additionally, the menu with the different rolls doesn't have the prices of each roll on the menu!!! i hate this, since we can't look at the prices and i feel like they just sneak the price on you. our group ended up paying a little over $30 each, which isn't bad but still summary: good sushi, not the best service, but not bad. average sushi price. choose your roll wisely because a lot of the rolls on the menu aren't that great, but there are some that are really good. look through the reviews and pick them out! Know your ROLL jabroni!

I am new to the area, as in ive been here for two days, and was craving some good sushi so i yelped it and found this place and the sushi is phenomenal! So fresh and the service was so fast! Its location is hidden but the inside is very nice and they have a bar!

This used to be a 5 star restaurant. Got take out last night and was not happy. Most of the rolls fell apart very easily. Took 40 mins for order to be ready. Maybe I got them on a bad night. Huge selection of rolls and a great variety. They have a great sushi cheat sheet with descriptions of all the rolls. I wanted a one to take home, and was told take a picture- really? That's gonna cost you in take out business. Won't be getting take out here again. May try eating there once more.

Yelp brought us here when we were passing through the area. Great spot. The salmon sashimi was so, so good. The rolls were inventive and delicious. Service was good, the table time was fine, and all told it was a great value. If this is your neighborhood sushi spot, you are doing at least one thing right in your life.

Poor, poor service. Almost made me leave. How can anybody work at a restaurant and be that obnoxious? Some of the rolls here are creative, but not that great, just ok. For sushi, I would give this place 2-3stars, but for service, definitely not worth going again.

This is my go-to place for sushi over the past 5 years. I have never been disappointed with the food -- always delicious. I often take my kids there for dinner or to meet friends. I would have given it 5 stars, but I experienced one Friday night with poor service (they seemed swamped).

I went with a group of four on a Friday night. The location is nice although not marked well from the street (Its right near Baltimore Yoga Village and Al Pacino Pizza). Plenty of free parking makes it a desirable spot if you are avoiding inner Towson and the Downtown. The restaurant itself was very clean and well decorated. Unfortunately that's where the evenings graces ended. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken and filled in a timely manner. However we had to flag our waitress to order appetizers. Again, we had to flag her to ask questions about the menu. I was unimpressed by the sashimi. The salmon was mostly flavourless and the white tuna tasted as if it was almost frozen. My friend commented that all the fish on the plate tasted the same but with a different texture. The sushi rice we ordered on the side was almost cold and dry. The rolls we ordered were good enough in theory and would have been excellent if the cuts of fish were quality. I also ordered 2 pieces of Uni and they were just not right. What is usually very creamy and buttery flavour was turning to something quite unsavory and stinky. The mochi ice cream was great, though hard to get that one wrong.Interestingly enough, Sushi Hana in Towson has always proved to be relatively high quality and exceptional service. I would like to give Sushi Hana on Falls Road the excuse that it was a Friday night and it was busy except its a restaurant and they should be prepared to accommodate weekend diners and larger parties. This place may be a good place to go for those who are fans of American-Chinese cuisine and are just being introduced to the concept of sushi as they have a large selection of creative rolls containing cooked ingredients. However, to more discriminate sushi palettes, I recommend exploring other options.

Love this place. Clean restaurant. Nice staff. Good sushi and sake. Cool ambiance with shoji lanterns and such. The private booths that are available are very cool! My friend and I stayed late talking one night and we weren't shoo-ed out. Prices aren't out of the ordinary. No complaints. The only weird thing is its location -- tucked in the very back of a small plaza, not visible from the street.

Wow! Close, amazing and they're dressed in authentic attire. Pretty slick. Food is great and they have the coldest beer in the city!

I recently went to Sushi Hana again, because my first couple of experiences were pleasant. Not this time. I ordered a couple rolls as did my friend. My friend got her rolls and I encouraged her to go ahead and start eating - no need to wait for me as I figured my food would be right out. I waited and waited, flagged down the waitress, and waited some more. TWENTY MINUTES later, I asked the waitress what was going on. She asked the sushi chef if anyone was preparing my order. He said no. I told the waitress to cancel my order. The waitress walked by several times and knew I didn't have my food while my friend did. This should have indicated to the waitress that something was up, yet it took them 20 minutes to inquire about it. To top it off, my friend thought the sushi was served kind of warm (I confirmed this - the rice was too hot). After I cancelled my order due to the fact my friend was pretty much done eating, they didn't even offer to comp the side salad that I ordered (and ate - this was the only thing they brought out to me). Needless to say, I left no tip and will never be going back again. Service is extremely important to me, and if it is not consistently good, I will not patronize an establishment.

The fish was good but prepared lazily. The sashimi were large chunks of fish, it was not thin sliced. The sushi was good but again prepared and had tobiko shoveled over the top in excess.

This place is horrible when it comes to service.. And THAT is a big turnoff ! Not only was their service slow but they have this server who not only has a rude tone of talking but also does not serve well. Instead of placing the eating plates on the table she actually handed them to us in our hands, together that too over her shoulder! Their sushi was ok too.. I personally prefer chiyo sushi for their cosy ambience and wider variety of rolls. This place is ok.. I think Sushi Hana at other places might be a better experience if you want the same menu I am definitely not returning to this place!

My go-to sushi place; dined here at least 2 dozen times. Only once (at the Towson location) did we have a bad experience, but that was because our server was terrible. On several other dine-in trips, to both the Towson and Falls Rd. locations, the service has been stellar. Unfortunately it's hit or miss whether the joint is jumping or totally empty. The Falls Rd. locations has really cool little private rooms off to one side with sliding doors that cut you off from the extremely loud din of the restaurant. Not sure if you can reserve those. Anyway, typically we do carry-out, and it's always outstanding. The sushi always tastes as fresh as it can be, and the portion sizes are the largest I've ever received in any sushi restaurant. Outstanding variety of rolls, including a few off-menu favorites (Beauty Alaska and Crunchy Spicy Tuna are not on the regular menu, but I always order them, and receive them somehow). Just tried the Black Widow Roll last night, which is a fried softshell crab with avocado and a spicy sauce, topped with fish roe. Fantastic. Prices are always reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. I always end up feeling like I over-ordered. They're almost always out of something I pick, though... typically the fatty tuna. Not a deal breaker, but a little frustrating. Have I had better sushi? Yes (better, as in a better variety of rolls and creative nigiri options). For this price? No. A stellar sushi option in Charm City for sure.

Very nice decor, although the staff speaking to each other in Chinese was funny. The cooked dynamite roll was awesome, imagine a spicy fish cream dip in sushi form. The black spider roll was disappointing, I would steer clear unless you enjoy lettuce. Overall, an excellent sushi experience!

I am so glad to have found Sushi Hana. I just moved to Mt. Washington and was afraid I'd miss not having the same access to fresh sushi I did living downtown. We've been twice and loved it! The service is great and although it's in a small strip mall type location, once you are inside you'd never know it. The ambiance is really nice. But most of all the sushi was delicious! All the rolls we tried were fresh and fabulous. We will be regulars!

Hands down BEST sushi anywhere around here. I've had a lot of good sushi and Sushi Hana is in the top 3. Both locations are great but I prefer Mt Washington.

  • Joe D.

Sucks! Been here several times and each time was awful. When you pick up the sushi it falls apart because they don't know how to roll it. Just brought a carry out order home and threw it all out. Every piece falls apart. its a mess. It's mushy! I'm not used to eating slop. I normally go to chiyo sushi around the corner on Sulgrave Avenue in Mt. Washington but unfortunately they were closed. Despite the other favorable reviews, the readers have to understand that most people like mediocre food. This is why 5 star restaurants go out of business and McDonald's thrives. If you're used to eating well and having fresh food you'll hate this place. If you love subway you'll love sushi hana.I think I'm going to gargle!

When I first heard the name, Sushi Hana, I expected flaming grills and flying knives--you know, like Bennihana. Well, Bennihana this is not. And the food is even better. The sushi is fresh and the rolls are amazing. They also take the extra step to make sure presentation is good, so each plate is a work of art. I swear my plate sashimi had perfect symmetry. I recommend the fried tofu appetizer, sashimi, and fried ice cream. There are private rooms which are always fun if you can reserve one ahead of time. My only complaint is that our waitress was either inexperienced, ditzy, or was having an off-night. She didn't know to clear our table of empty dishes until we asked, she didn't bring water to everyone at the table, she didn't refill our water without us asking, and she never checked on us.

Traditional sushi rolls were good. The more elaborate rolls were not very good and were a bit overpriced. Good service, though.

Sushi Hana is OK. I went there for the first time tonight and was pretty unimpressed. I would give it 2 and a half stars if I could, but 2 will have to do. The set up is nice, and it's well decorated and very clean on the inside. The rolls were unimpressive to say the least, and they should absolutely note that any roll containing lump crab is VERY salty and the crab itself is covered with old bay. There's a large selection of rolls, but most of them are fatty/fried and covered in sauces. Not very authentic. This your run of the mill generic, americanized sushi joint. If you're into that- you'll like it. I found it tacky and over rated. Not very authentic AT ALL (coming from someone who has lived in Japan).

Historically great, award winning Sushi. I've probably eaten here a hundred times and always enjoyed it. In the unlikely sushi hub that is downtown Towson. Most recently I went for a late Sunday night dinner (around 8p) and sat at the bar. Not crowded at all, we waltzed right in and sat down. HIghlights of this particular meal were "I like that" Roll - very appropriately named- key point is the crabmeat on top with Old Bay seasoning Yumyum Roll - convenient smaller portion of delicious Cooked Dynamite Roll which is a great indulgence but can be a bit much when you get the full size. One great appetizer I neglected this trip is the Age Tofu- tempura fried tofu cubes in a tasty sauce. The heat rising off of it makes the bonito flakes wave around like they're alive. Your bill could get out of control if you get too many signature rolls but the quality is so high they're worth it. Service was friendly as always, and they even let us feed the koi in their indoor pond on the way out.

A hidden gem. This is an unassuming place from the outside, nestled into the back corner of a small strip center a solid mile off of the freeway. In fact, if you didn't know this place was here I'm not sure you would find it. Still the price is unmatched, there fish is super fresh - easily on par with any of the higher priced places in the city where you pay as much for the ambiance as you do for the food itself, and they serve HUGE pieces of sashimi. Bonus: They make an excellent Mai Tai.

Great little sushi place. Apparently it used to be a Chinese restaurant, but the business was a bit slow, so they transformed into a sushi place. I would never have known this place existed, but my parents come here all the time. We showed up on a Friday night at around 10. They were still open, but we were the only people in the restaurant (guess they don't do much late-night business). I had the toro (fatty tuna) nigiri, which was fabulous, and one of their combination rolls, which was also pretty good. They have some interesting combinations - you can get such oddities as chicken sushi here. Also had the sake - they only had two types of cold sake and two hot sake. It was pretty generic. Overall, the food was great, and the service was quite good. Plus they have a fish tank in the back with a cow fish. Probably a vestige of their chinese restaurant heritage.

Yum! Came here with a few friends this past weekend and went to town.. Things I liked: 1. Got there at 7 on a Friday and were able to get a table. 2. The Bruce roll. Could really taste the crab! 3. The squid appetizer. Instead of frying the tasty little squid bites into oblivion (which I do love), this was grilled and sliced. Served with hot sauce on top. Not too chewy and a good start.. Well, it would have been if it had arrive BEFORE the rest of the meal. Oh well. 4. Volcano roll was definitely spicy! And tasty 5. We ordered 5 rolls for 4 people, plus the appetizer..and our bill was a pretty reasonable $16 each. Things I didn't like: 1. See above about our appetizer not showing up pre-meal! 2. Waitstaff was a littttttle all over the place. Needed a soy sauce dish and it took a while to get their attention etc. 3. The people next to us were kind of losers. Kept talking about silly drunken escapades (which would have been OK)..except they barely ate their sushi!! We were all really hungry and were very tempted to reach over and help before our food arrived. No loss of stars for irritating customers. Just wanted to share!

Great little sushi place in a quiet little neighborhood north of downtown Baltimore (the best I've found since moving here a few months ago from the west coast). Initially recommended by my girlfriend's co-worker, I was a little hesitant to try it because of fears it might be a chain (there is at least one more location in Towson). Couldn't have been more wrong! We ate in the dining room (vs. sushi bar) and were served by a very friendly and appropriately attentive waitstaff. Very extensive selection of maki (rolls) and nigiri sushi, as well as other Japanese dishes for those in your party who might not be comfortable with uncooked fish. Also, one of the few places I've found that is able to get bluefin toro (fatty tuna belly); it was fresh and wonderfully buttery. The maki are quite large portion-wise, so be careful how many you order. Full bar if that's your kind of thing; sake selection was limited but generally of higher quality. Four stars instead of five because it feels just a little expensive for the ambiance. Highly recommended.

Last stop on my whirlwind eastern shore tour--and so worth it! Steered into this gem by my aunts (and fellow sushi enthusiasts), I was struck by the crisp, clean aesthetics, which still managed to exude a welcoming vibe. Our party was whisked into one of the side booths, and our privacy secured by white-paned sliding doors. Our server was polite, amiable and (mostly) attentive; our drinks were brought out promptly, quickly followed by Eda Mame and seaweed salad appetizers. The salad, while a bit salty for my taste, was coolly flavorful and whet my appetite with anticipation for the meal to come. First side note: their list of (6pc) rolls is not only extensive, but refreshingly original. Some of their specialty rolls sounded fantastic (but sadly, I could only sample a few). Entrees: The tempura chicken & vegetable platter was excellent, though the sauce on the side was so bland it may well have been straight vegetable oil. Nigiri: The toro (daily special) was a delicate treat. The mackerel and surf clam, while fresh, were nothing special. The eel, while generously portioned, was somewhat disappointing--cold and bordering on bland. Rolls: Jayme/Jeremy Rolls: I have forgotten which was which, but one was a fabulous pairing of spicy tuna and shiitake mushrooms, which complimented each other marvelously. The other was a spicy tuna and ava roll topped with eel and a stripe of hot sauce... not as good but still original enough to warrant complimenting :) Mojo Roll: Wow. Seriously. I thought I wouldn't be able to take another bite of lump crabmeat after the weekend... I was wrong. And I was sooo glad. We had a few other standards (Alaska, Cali, etc.) that were up to the usual par. Decent beverage selection, and I heard rumors of a BYOB policy. Price wasn't terribly hefty, especially considering the food quality: ~$35 per person. If you live in the area, check this place out... and know I will be there in spirit, envious of your Mojo (Yes-Yes!)
